GPT50 is the successor to the rock-solid GT050Q that Glyph produced for over six years, and is designed from the ground-up to be smaller, more technologically advanced, and more environmentally friendly. Featuring next-generation Oxford bridging technology, the GPT50 is the newest member of Glyph's drive family. Conceived as the big brother to the industry-leading PortaGig50 portable drive, GPT50 is the desktop equivalent gaining an internal power supply and quiet fan yet is 33% smaller than the previous GT050Q making it more portable and convenient than before. Furthermore the GPT50 has more environmentally-friendly, completely recyclable packaging.

The GPT50 uses a temperature-controlled fan making it overall quieter than previous and competitive designs while still offering the efficient and necessary cooling required during production applications. The case is designed with front-panel ventilation holes to draw cool air in, while exhausting warm air out the back - critical to the performance and reliability of the components.
Nobody likes wall-warts and external power supplies.Power adapters are easily misplaced, untidy, accidentally unplugged from the drive, or even plugged in to the wrong drive by accident. The GPT50 uses an industry-standard power cord and professional grade internal power supply for the most efficient and reliable power source possible. No matter where you are in the world a standard IEC mains cable is all that is required to power the GPT50.

Keeping your data safe.
The GPT50 boasts new features designed to keep data safe. The intelligent power switch must be held for 3 seconds to power off the drive, guarding against unintended and accidental operation. A multifunction LED displays drive power, activity, and also warns of a failing drive.

All the ports possibly needed are provided on the GPT50 with two FireWire 800 (backwards compatible with FW400) ports, a USB 2.0 and an eSATA port users can connect the GPT50 to their external interface of choice.
