Samurai
Samurai is a 10-bit uncompressed to Apple ProRes Field Recorder, Monitor and Playback device featuring HD-SDI input and output, and intuitive touchscreen operation.
The revolutionary Samurai is a portable touchscreen professional 10-bit HD recorder, monitor and playback device that captures pristine video and audio direct from any camera with HD/SD-SDI. It encodes in real-time to the visually-lossless Apple ProRes format and records to removable 2.5" hard disk drives (HDD) or solid state drives (SSD). Footage can be monitored during recording or reviewed in playback mode, with full scrubbing and frame accurate nudging transport controls, directly on the high-resolution 5" display or to any HD-SDI capable device.
The Samurai consumes very little power, and is designed from the ground up to be a low power device to ensure long recording times and efficient use of batteries. Atomos' unique battery-looping technology is also built in to Samurai enabling recording and operations to continue while swapping a depleted power cell.
Like Atomos' debut product Ninja, the Samurai records directly to hot-swappable 2.5" hard disk drives (HDD) or solid state drives (SSD) that are fitted to an Atomos Master Caddy. Through the included Docking Station recorded footage can be simply and easily connected to a computer via FireWire 800 or USB 2/3 for direct import in to Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere or other NLE applications supporting the recorded codec.
Samurai streamlines HD workflows enabling professionals to record pristine, visually lossless HD images from their camera in to a format that can be directly edited without the need for transcoding. While recording footage can be monitored on a high-resolution screen and then played back for review either on the Samurai itself or on a separate device through SDI output. Low-cost recording media that easily hooks up to Macintosh or PC workstations completes the professional workflow provided by Samurai.
