Glyph Technologies News | Press:Glyph Introduces the GT103 at AES; Firewire based Digital Storage to Enable High Track Counts in a 1U Rack Ithaca, NY – (October 10, 2003) Glyph Technologies introduces its GT 103 at the AES Convention, setting a precedent in digital audio storage. This FireWire based, single-space enclosure enables easy management of high track count audio in one tidy rack mount package. Consistent with Glyph’s GT Series, the GT 103 was designed with the audio production process in mind – its professional features such as Glyph’s Integrity™ FireWire hot-swap interface and QuietMetal™ make it an exceptionally reliable and flexible audio recording solution. Glyph understands that working with high track count audio requires multiple drives. For this reason, the GT 103 was designed to accommodate three high-speed hot-swappable drives in capacities of 80, 120, 160GB and 200GB. Now track-counts can be managed reliably and without interruption in a single space. Exploiting the capabilities of FireWire, the GT 103 further extends drive capacity and backup beyond three drives. Glyph’s GT Key hot-swappable drives can be removed and replaced in process, making additional content easy to include in the mix. Focused on providing the most reliable and flexible solutions, Glyph designed the GT Key hard drives to improve reliability of the data exchange at the interface. The FireWire bridging technology, Glyph’s Integrity™, is included in the cartridge itself and is supported properly with FireWire protocols. A competitive point of distinction for Glyph, Integrity™ increases the reliability of FireWire hot-swapping and exceeds the limitations of today’s existing FireWire to ATA hot-swap products. As part of Glyph’s GT Series, the GT 103 will work in conjunction with other GT Series enclosures. Content can be mobilized like never before between the studio, home and beyond. For instance, the GT Key can be shuttled between a GT 103 in the studio and a portable GT 051 tabletop. All GT Series enclosures and the GT Key hard drives are constructed with rugged stainless steel and QuietMetal™ internal frames to dampen out environmental noise and keep recordings safe from interference. Glyph Technologies, wholly owned by Ithaca Technologies, LLC, was founded in 1993. Based in Ithaca, New York, Glyph provides high performance storage solutions for audio and video production.
