Glyph Technologies News | Press:April 2, 2002 Glyph Announces Dual Hot-Swappable FireWire Solution Specifically for Audio Ithaca, NY - Glyph Technologies today announced immediate availability of its new 1U Series Dual FWHS™ - a single-space FireWire storage solution with two hot-swappable hard drives for audio professionals. The rack mountable 1U Dual FWHS provides fast, reliable high capacity storage with the ease and functionality of a FireWire interface. The sleek new brushed steel design is a handsome way to add as much as 240GB to your studio rack. This latest offer from Glyph demonstrates their commitment to deliver the latest technology in storage solutions for audio professionals. The Dual FWHS can be outfitted with varying capacity hard drives, it ships standard with two 40GB drive capacities. It is also available with 80GB or 120GB capacities. Glyph has fully optimized the Dual FWHS for audio with their focus on the power, cooling, interface and packaging systems all designed and engineered for maximum performance in professional production environments. This is made possible by the their new ATA to IEEE1394 (FireWire) bridge boards designed by Glyph's engineering team with the ability to push the data ATA/100 (ATA-5) interface to its limit (50MB/sec) using the Oxford 911 chipset. Digidesign has specified the Oxford 911 chip for use with their systems. The new bridge boards also means that the Dual FWHS is S.M.A.R.T. ready. S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Report Technology) is a technology designed and used to monitor and predict device performance. The drive spindle speeds of 7,200 rpm enable recording, editing and mixing of 400-1,300 minutes of 24 track, 24 bit audio, or 300-1,000 minutes of 32 track, 24 bit audio at a 48kHz sample rate. The Dual FWHS ships complete with preformatted drives, cables, and driver utilities are also included. It is backed by Glyph's unrivaled service and technical support, including a full three-year warranty with overnight advance replacement coverage to minimize downtime.
