Glyph Technologies News | Press:Glyph Ships New "MAS Stor" Solution for 96kHz Audio [January 15. 2001] - Ithaca, NY -Glyph Technologies today announced immediately availability of the MAS Stor™ - the latest in their DAW-specific digital storage solutions. The MAS Stor provides A/V users working with 96kHz audio the opportunity to cost effectively outfit themselves with a single, or dual hot-swappable hard drives, matched with a high-speed DAT drive for a complete storage solution in a space-saving metal rack-mount enclosure. The MAS Stor is a double-space unit specifically designed as the storage companion for Mark of the Unicorn's MAS (MOTU Audio Suite) line of 96k applications. Not only have the drives been chosen to maximize performance of MOTU's 1296, but the faceplate matches the MAS products in design and color. The MAS Stor uses 15,000 rpm, high performance, A/V rated, Ultra-Wide SCSI drives with a rotational speed of 15,00 rpm enabling one to record, edit, mix and master multi-track audio at a 96kHz sample rate. The hard drives (currently available in 18GB volumes), are configured with StorCase hot swap technology as standard - this provides the ultimate in scalability for projects. To complement the primary storage, Glyph has chosen the Ecrix 33GB (native) tape backup device. This 8mm tape format drive is a cool backup device with a fast 180MB/min data transfer rate and technology that promises 100% restore. The MAS Stor has a MAP of $2,699 and ships with SCSI cable, terminator, media and drive formatting software - everything necessary for use right out of the box.
