ATTO Technology News | Press:ATTO Diamond Storage Array S-Class Qualified
with Pinnacle Systems’ CinéWave for High Definition NAB Booth # SL5864 Amherst, NY – April 19, 2004 - ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, announced today that the ATTO Diamond Storage Array S-Class for HD has been qualified by Pinnacle Systems with their CinéWave solution for uncompressed high-definition, standard-definition and real-time video editing. The Diamond Storage Array’s ability to store more than 14 hours of uncompressed High-definition (HD) video in a small 3U enclosure gives production, editing, visual effects, and broadcast facilities the ability to store their high-definition media on one storage device rather than spreading the media across separate arrays. As more and more video facilities move toward the burgeoning HD format, there is an increased demand for high-performance, high-capacity storage. According to the 2004-2005 Global Broadcast & Professional Video Marketplace Trends Report published by SCRI International, Inc., about one in four facilities (25.6%) is already dealing with 24p HD video. By the end of 2005, the number of facilities is expected to increase to almost seven out of ten (68.3%). With 6.0 Terabytes of capacity in a 3U enclosure, the ATTO Diamond Storage Array S-Class for HD is one of the densest storage arrays on Pinnacle’s qualification list. The ATTO Diamond Array can store more than 14 hours of uncompressed HD video. To date, facilities working with more than nine hours of uncompressed HD media have had to connect multiple storage arrays. The ATTO Diamond Array revolutionizes HD video storage with its unprecedented storage capacity. Now, video professionals can streamline their workflow and improve their productivity by centralizing the location of their high-definition media. “By ardently addressing the demanding data-transfer needs of video professionals, ATTO has become a trusted name in storage connectivity for rich media,” states Sherri Robinson, director of Markets Management. “Since these same considerations were made when designing the ATTO Diamond Storage Array, we’re confident that video professionals will enjoy the same unparalleled performance with the ATTO Diamond that they have enjoyed with ATTO connectivity products during the past decade. We’re pleased to now support the Pinnacle CinéWave system with both storage and storage connectivity.” In addition to its unsurpassed storage capacity, the Diamond’s exclusive Aggregated Data Transfer Technology (ADXT™) combines the performance of individual ATA drives to achieve high data-transfer rates. It’s this added feature that allows the ATTO Diamond to support not only real-time uncompressed standard-definition video editing, but also uncompressed high-definition video editing; a feature not found on some other competitive storage arrays. “The performance and capacity of the ATTO Diamond S-Class for HD is a good match for Pinnacle’s CineWave.” said Andrew Baum, senior product manager for Pinnacle Systems Broadcast & Professional division. “CinéWave customers rely on dependable and robust storage arrays such as the Diamond in order to push the creativity envelope.” The ATTO Diamond Array is packed with Enterprise-class Serial ATA features while priced aggressively. This favorable ratio of price and performance gives facilities greater flexibility in how they store and use HD media. Up until now, it has been cost prohibitive for video facilities to keep a high volume of HD media reliably on line. |
