ATTO Technology News | Press:ATTO Technology and Seagate Demonstrate 4-Gb
Interoperability at SC2004 Conference AMHERST, NY - November 8, 2004 - ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, announced today that ATTO Technology and Seagate Technology will jointly demonstrate 4-Gb interoperability at SC2004 Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, November 8 – 11, 2004. SC2004 is the annual conference on high-performance computing, networking and storage. Today’s computing-intensive customer workflow continues to place stringent data-delivery requirements on servers and storage. In an effort to facilitate faster data delivery, ATTO and Seagate will supply products which double the throughput speed of their previous generation Fibre Channel products. ATTO Celerity FC-42XS is the first Fibre Channel storage adapter to ship with support for this next-generation 4-Gb/sec. transport protocol. The demonstration will feature the ATTO Celerity FC-42XS connected to Seagate Cheetah 15K 4-Gb hard disk drives and will showcase the high-speed data-transfer rates achievable with a 4-Gb Fibre Channel storage solution. This demonstration will be showcased in the ATTO Technology booth #1749 at SC2004 Conference. The ATTO Celerity FC-42XS is a dual-channel 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel Storage Adapter featuring ATTO’s exclusive Advanced Data Streaming (ADS™) Technology. With data-transfer rates of up to 800 MB/sec. per channel, Celerity FC-42XS provides server and workstation environments with the highest available throughput for data-intensive applications. Celerity FC-42XS is backward compatible with legacy transport protocols, allowing customers to extend their current Fibre Channel storage investments. “ATTO is once again validating it’s commitment to market leadership through our joint demonstration of 4-Gb/sec. interoperability with Seagate,” states Director of Markets at ATTO Technology, Sherri Robinson. “This effort to ensure multi-vendor interoperability is paying dividends for customers as they embark on their transition to 4-Gb.” “As the pioneer of Fibre Channel disc drive technology, Seagate
sees the move to 4-Gb/sec. Fibre Channel as the natural transition for
the world’s largest enterprise systems,” said Bill Schilling,
Seagate director of Global Product Marketing. “Fibre Channel’s
scalability and feature set is unmatched. Working with companies such
as ATTO, to bring solid 4-Gb/sec. solutions to the market, will ensure
that the needs of the IT industry will continue to be met as Enterprises
grow.” |
