ATTO Technology Announces iSCSI Initiator for Apple Market
iSCSI technology gaining customer interest

AMHERST, NY - November 8, 2004 - ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, announced today, the development of its MAC iSCSI software initiator, enabling Apple users worldwide to take advantage of iSCSI technology. With this announcement IT managers have the ability to begin deployment of cost-effective iSCSI storage networks inclusive of Apple users.

Enabling storage centralization and consolidation at an affordable price, the MAC iSCSI initiator coupled with any of ATTO’s iPBridge products lets users leverage their current Ethernet network, by providing the ability to attach existing SCSI storage to an Ethernet IP-based network. This allows departmental data centers and small-to-midsize businesses to maximize their ROI by utilizing existing storage resources as shared storage.

By connecting existing SCSI storage to an iSCSI SAN Mac users can:
Take existing direct-attached SCSI storage devices and make them available to multiple servers, increasing accessibility and making storage management easier
Use standard 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet protocols which leverages existing IT expertise providing a more cost effective alternative to Fibre Channel
Improve return-on-investment for existing SCSI storage devices ATTO has recognized that organizations of all sizes have expressed increased interest in iSCSI-based solutions. IT professionals are expressing interest in the iSCSI technology particularly because it allows them to network storage while leveraging their current Ethernet expertise.
“The new MAC iSCSI initiator lets Apple users tap the incredible opportunity offered by iSCSI SANS,” states Tim Klein, ATTO’s president and CEO. “Users can take advantage of their existing Ethernet expertise to create a complete solution with the ATTO iPBridge family of products or any other iSCSI target. Apple customers are telling us that they want low-cost, dependable and easy-to-manage iSCSI solutions. The introduction of the MAC iSCSI initiator demonstrates ATTO’s commitment to facilitating cost-effective IP SANs for the Apple market.”
