ATTO Technology Completes Testing Under IBM’s TotalStorage Proven™ Program

iSCSI-to-SCSI bridge allows users to attach IBM Ultrium tape library to a Gigabit Ethernet network
Amherst, NY – May 18, 2004 - ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, announced today that its iPBridge™ 2500C/R/D iSCSI-to-SCSI bridge product has successfully completed interoperability testing with IBM’s TotalStorage™ Ultrium Tape Library products and has been confirmed as IBM TotalStorage Proven.

The IBM TotalStorage Proven program builds on IBM’s already extensive interoperability efforts to develop and deliver products and solutions that work together with third party products.

“This program provides ATTO’s partners and customers with pre-tested solutions and configurations to simplify the adoption of our iSCSI solutions," states Sherri Robinson, director of markets management for ATTO Technology. “Our participation in the program demonstrates that ATTO and IBM are working together to increase customer satisfaction by promoting greater interoperability.”

The ATTO iPBridge 2500C/R/D allows users to attach existing SCSI storage devices to IP networks affording IT managers the ability to deploy cost-effective iSCSI storage networks. Users can leverage their current Ethernet network, by providing the ability to attach or connect a SCSI tape library such as IBM TotalStorage Ultrium Tape Libraries or other SCSI storage, such as disk or MO storage systems, and network them across an Ethernet IP-based network so more users can access existing storage devices. The iPBridge 2500C/R/D is available in two form factors: board-level, for embedding into OEM storage devices or in a rack mount/desktop enclosure for use with legacy devices. The ATTO iPBridge 2500C/R/D supports both iSCSI and NDMP requirements for NAS and SANs in a single hardware solution and combines proven ATTO SCSI hardware and software technology with Gigabit Ethernet, one of the world's most widely accepted means of transporting data. SCSI tape devices such as IBM TotalStorage Ultrium Tape Libraries are an integral part of many storage infrastructures. ATTO’s iPBridge 2500 C/R/D, with iSCSI support, is an enabling device that can integrate IBM tape devices into an iSCSI storage network.

The IBM TotalStorage Proven program supports the ability of Independent Hardware and Software Vendors to build high-quality solutions with the latest technology on leading storage platforms as well as reduce solution design time when multiple, tested building blocks have already been pre-tested.
